With Thanksgiving in the rear view mirror and Christmas in the distant future, the Oceanside area is gearing up for a spook-tacular Halloween!

Beginning the weekend before Halloween, Resort Drive hosts Pumpkins on the Drive. From 6pm to 8pm from the 27th to the 31st, the Drive will be lit with over four hundred hand-carved pumpkins, which is truly a sight to see! Visitors to the Drive are invited to visit each resort along the way for an assortment of Halloween treats.

Leading up to Halloween, Oceanside and surrounding areas have a plethora of events for adults to enjoy. On October 20th, Mon Petite Choux is slated to host the Adult’s Masquerade Fashion Show Gala and Fundraiser. Guests can enjoy Hors D’oeuvres and cocktails while taking in the show, and partial proceeds go to the 11 Candles Project. So get your tickets and dust off your masks, because this is not an event to miss!

Masquerade lovers should also plan to attend the Serauxmen 8th Annual Halloween Party and Masquerade Ball on the eve of October 27th. Prizes for single and group costumes are up for grabs, and party-goers can dance the night away to Jo and the Bros playing live. All proceeds go directly to the Serauxmen Service Club to help individuals and families in need in Nanaimo.

Horror at the MAC starts at 6pm on Halloween, and is perfect for child-free adults who want to skip handing out candy. Embrace your inner child and head to the MAC for movies, popcorn, candy, and more! This event is 18+ and is by donation.

Regardless of age, Halloween-lovers won’t want to miss out on the La Familia Halloween Dance at the Errington Hall! Dance the night away on October 27th to this year’s Day of the Dead theme and enjoy musical flavours from Cuba, Colombia, the Caribbean, and Mexico all performed live by the fiendishly good Latin fiesta band, La Familia.

Come Halloween eve, children have a wide range of events to choose from. The Errington Halloween Pumpkin Trail will be lit up with pumpkins and full of both treats and spooky adventures; children are encouraged to wear their costumes for a trip through the trail and afterward participants are invited to gather around a bonfire for hot chocolate or coffee and hot dogs. The evening will conclude with a fireworks show just before 8pm.

Children and families can head out to the Coombs Fairgrounds for the Coombs Candy Walk – which celebrated its 50th year this year! The theme this year is the circus, and participants can also enjoy the Little Ghoul’s Haunted House, a cake walk, and concession. The evening culminates at 8pm with a fireworks display.

Before heading to Coombs or Errington, children can enjoy Halloween in Qualicum Beach Village from 3pm to 5pm, where they can trick or treat, as well as take part in creepy crafts at the library, Halloween photos at Pharmasave, a colouring contest at Lefty’s, and edible Halloween crafts at Courtyard Café.

Don’t miss out on a spooky island-style Halloween! With activities and events for all ages, there’s something for everyone. Reserve your Halloween accommodations with us and have a spooktacular getaway to Parksville this year!
