Canada Day in Parksville
Paint the town red (and white) in Parksville this Canada Day. If there’s one thing this beach town knows how to do, it’s how to celebrate. The Parksville area offers people a plethora of events and activities to entertain and delight this coming July 1st.
Hit the streets in the AM to catch Parksville’s annual Canada Day parade. The parade begins at 10am on the south end of the city and makes its way through downtown and up Craig Street, before ending at City Hall. From floats to fancy cars and more, this parade is beloved by locals and hugely popular year after year.
Beach festivities begin in the early afternoon, with opening ceremonies kicking off the day right at noon. After the ceremony, enjoy live entertainment, kid friendly activities like a bouncy castle, face painting, and more, while adults can join a volleyball tournament or just wander around taking in the sights and enjoying the multiple live shows. Local performers take to the main stage beginning in the afternoon and continue throughout the evening into the night. Performers include The Femme Fatales, Moonshine Molly’s, Johnny Inappropriate, and more.
Fireworks commence at dusk, so make sure to grab a great spot by the water. It’s guaranteed to be a spectacular display.
Not to be outdone by its southern neighbor, Qualicum Beach has its own celebration planned. Anyone heading to Qualicum on July 1st can enjoy a pancake breakfast to kick off the day, followed by a parade through downtown Qualicum Beach beginning at 11am. For parade-lovers with diligence and a proper route planned, it may be possible to catch both parades!
Opening ceremonies for Qualicum’s Canada Day Festivities begins at noon, along with the ceremonial cake cutting. Ceremonies and following festivities will take place at the Qualicum Beach Legion. After opening ceremonies, the Legion will open its concession and Legion Garden – perfect for a more adult-themed day.
Music and activities are all slated to take place along Veteran’s Way, and will begin at approximately 1pm. Live music can be enjoyed all day on the main stage from 1pm to 10pm, and don’t forget your dancing shoes! A street dance will be held from 6:30pm to 10pm. Qualicum Beach is the place to be for those looking to skip the mayhem and traffic of the Parksville post-firework frenzy or for those simply looking for a more adult-centric way to spend the holiday.
