  • Ongoing, 2014 Open Mic - 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM Acoustic Open Mic every Monday day evening at the Shady Rest Pub in Qualicum Beach. Great food. C’mon down & play some tunes
  • Ongoing – Free Meditation Class – Learn how to meditate! Free classes every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7pm at the McMillan Arts Centre. Simple and effective techniques of Sahaja Yoga Meditation will allow you to master stress, improve your health, face yourself, and achieve balance in every aspect of life.   • Ongoing – Timberline Dance – Free, live classic Country and Rock’n Roll music that lets you hear yourself think and hold onto your dance partner! Every Wednesday, 7:30 to 10:30 pm Parksville Legion, 146 West Hirst St., Parksville. All adults welcome!
  • Ongoing – Old Time Thursday Dances Every Thursday, September to June, 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM – Rotary House, corner of Beach and Fern in Qualicum Beach. A variety of dance styles, including waltzes, reels, jigs, two-steps, polkas, schottisches and more are played by the Coombs Old Time Fiddlers from a large repertoire of classic and country tunes. The format is two hours of dancing with a half-hour intermission. Non-alcoholic refreshments are provided. Admission $2.50 and snack included. Info: 250-586-3743.
  • Ongoing – Sunday Afternoon Dancing - On the first Sunday each month, beginning on January 5 at the Rotary House in Qualicum Beach. The music will play from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30. Dance styles include Waltzes, Polkas, Two-Steps, Schottisches, Jigs, Reels and more. Admission of $2.50 will include light refreshments.   • January 24 – Robbie Burns at the Rocking Horse– Includes an ode to haggis with the traditional Piper and the amazing 5 piece band Celtic chaos starting at 7:30 with traditional Scottish specials at 5pm.
  • January 29 – Watoto African Children’s Choir - You are invited to come and see the Watoto African Children’s Choir at Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church (550 Pym Street) on January 29th at 7pm. Everyone is welcome! There will be a freewill offering taken. 
  • February 1 – Kitchen Ceilidh – Come join us for a fun evening of Gaelic Music featuring Celtic Chaos, Irish Food and Dancing as we raise money for the Bowser Seniors Housing Society. Tickets $30 include dinner. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner 6:30 p.m. Reserve a table by calling 250-757-8117, or purchase your tickets from the Salish Sea Market, Georgia Park Store or the Mulberry Bush Book Stores in Parksville or Qualicum Beach.
  • February 1 – 12th Annual Qualicum Beach Seedy Saturday - 10am-3:30pm, Feb 1, 2014. Admission by donation.   • February 7 – The Fretless in Concert -  Errington Hall, 8:00 pm on Friday, February 7th.This Victoria-based “new folk” string quartet from Victoria won two 2012 Canadian Folk Music Awards. Tickets are $20 at at Cranky Dog in Parksville, Heaven on Earth in Qualicum and the Errington General Store. Coffee and treats available.
  • February 20-22 – A Night at the Palace - See the annual A Night at the Palace show at the Errington Hall, 8:00 pm on Thursday, Friday & Saturday February 20th, 21st & 22nd. An evening of Vaudeville and Burlesque – music, dance and comedy featuring an amazing line up of local talents. – always a crowd favourite. Check back on the Errington Hall website for details of ticket prices and sales locations.
  • February 20-23 – Parksville Uncorked 2014 - From wine or beer newbie to seasoned palate, you’ll enjoy tastings, featured wine dinners, bubbly brunches, wine-inspired spa treatments and local tours. Last year’s festival events sold out. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. Book early. Book often. And bring a friend!

  • Ongoing until December 21st – Qualicum Beach Farmers Market – a great way to start your Saturday morning. Whether you’re visiting for the first time, or are a lifelong resident, a visit to Veteran’s Way and Memorial is where you’ll find the best in fresh fruits, vegetables and berries, plants and cut flowers, fresh baked goods, jams and jellies, fish, chicken and pork, as well as a wide range of local crafts.

  • December 6-8, 13-15, 18-22 – Milner Christmas Magic 2013 - Come stroll through tens of thousands of lights, enjoy local musicians and story tellers, stop by Santa’s shop for a visit, pop into the Teddy Bear cottage and try to count all of the old Bears, and enjoy tea or hot chocolate in the tea room. The gates open from 5:00 to 8:30 each night (recommend entry by 8:00).
  • December 7th – Coombs Country Christmas Craft Sale- Saturday, December 7, Arrowsmith Hall, Ford Road, Coombs (behind the General Store). Great, local, handcrafted gifts. www.coombsfair.com or 250-752-9757. Proceeds to support the Coombs Fair and 4-H activities.
  • December 7th – Qualicum Beach Christmas in the Village- Qualicum Beach Christmas in the Village, 6-9pm on Saturday
  • December 12-29th – Echo Players Presents Cinderella, The Greatest Pantomime… With a Twist! - Laugh, boo, jeer, shout ‘It‘s behind you!’ – and sing along to your heart’s content. The classic story of Cinderella – with an unexpected twist – is coming to stage at the Village Theatre, Qualicum Beach, December 12 – 29. Scripted by Simon Nye (Men Behaving Badly) this “Panto With a Twist” promises to be a fun filled event for all the family with plenty of singing, dancing, laughs, magic and lots of audience participation.
  • December 13-31 – Winter Wonderland on Ice- The holiday elves have been busy transforming Oceanside Place Arena into a Winter Wonderland. Special lighting and décor along with a touch of holiday magic will make you feel as though you’re skating on an outdoor pond under the light of the moon and millions of twinkling stars.   • December 14th – The Errington Hall Christmas Craft Fair - The ‘Original Show’ on Dec. 14 will offer a vast range of high quality, locally hand crafted gifts, foods, and scrumptious lunches, as well as coffee, tea, goodies and more. Come and feel the traditional Christmas Spirit while you shop locally in the historic Errington War Memorial Hall – 1390 Errington Rd. All proceeds of the table sales go toward the maintenance of the Errington Hall. The Fair will run from 10am – 3pm
  • December 15th- Comfort and Joy Concert – The Oceanside Concert Band and the Oceanside Grandmothers present ‘Comfort and Joy’ – an afternoon of music for the entire family. The 4th annual Family Christmas Concert welcomes back soloist Rosalee Sullivan and features Second Wind, a saxophone trio. Admission is by donation with all proceeds shared equally between the Salvation Army Mt. Arrowsmith Community Ministries and the Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothers Campaign. Settle into the holidays and enjoy some of your seasonal favourites. Doors open at 2:00 pm
  • December 18-24 – The Golden Buddha Light Display - Come and view the beautiful seasonal light display in the gardens of the 15 foot high Golden Buddha! Gift Shop Open with Tibetan and Indian treats and FREE snacks and apple cider! Wednesday Dec 18 through and including Christmas Eve 5:30pm – 7:30pm. FREE! All ages Welcome! *Weather permitting!
  • December 20th - Coombs Country Opera – Old Time Country Western Music. 7:00 pm every third Friday, Sept – May.
  • December 21st – Christmas on the Farm- 9th annual FREE, open house, at Little Qualicum Cheeseworks, 11:00 to 3:00, Saturday, December 21. Free “Carol Wagon” rides, live music, live manger scene, warm munchies, hot mullings, cookies and more…FMI: www.cheeseworks.ca.
  • Ongoing for December – Oceanside Light Tour- The Oceanside Light tour is an annual event in the Parksville, Qualicum, Coombs, Nanoose area. Donate $20 to have your house listed on the tour and people can enjoy your light display. People vote for their favorite display, and if your home or business wins you will enjoy a luxury Christmas Eve light tour with up to 11 friends and family in a beautiful stretch limo from Vancouver Island Limousine services.   • December 31st – Ring in 2014 with An Affair to Remember – New Years Eve event, 6:00pm to 2:00 am, at the Quality Resort Bayside, brought to you by VIP Auto Detail. Tickets available at VIP Auto Detail, Sunrise Ridge, The Quality Resort Bayside, Island Cleaning. Cost is $100 per person
  • December 31st – New Years Eve Party- at the Parksville Community Centre this December! There will be a fantastic DJ, an entertainment only casino, free photo booth, catered dinner, favors and safe ride home that night – all for $100 per person ~ or come after dinner for the party and pay $70 per person, including late appies.
